Cremation in Sweden for Ukrainians
Losing a loved one is always hard. And when it happens abroad, in Sweden, it adds to the pain and confusion: what to do, where to turn, how to arrange everything correctly?
Vespera takes care of everything — from the retrieval of the body to delivering the urn with the ashes to your home in Ukraine.
How it Happens
After your call, we explain each step and agree on all the details. Then you sign the consent remotely — through electronic services, without the need to travel to Sweden.
We collect the body from the place of death, take care of the preparations — washing, dressing, placing in the coffin. We obtain the medical certificate, register the death, and carry out the cremation at the appropriate crematorium.
After cremation — we receive the urn and all documents, legalize them, prepare the permits for transportation across the border, and deliver the ashes to you in Ukraine.
How Much It Costs
The average cost of cremation in Sweden for citizens of Ukraine is from 3,800 to 4,800 euros. This sum includes the transportation of the body within Sweden, the cremation, the preparation of all documents, a standard urn, interaction with the consulate, and the delivery of the ashes to Ukraine.
The final price depends on the region, the format of farewell, and the family's additional requests — for example, an individual urn, a religious service, or musical accompaniment. All of this is discussed in advance and fixed before work begins. There are no unexpected costs after the agreements are signed.
How Long Does Cremation Take
In standard cases — from 5 to 7 days considering the completion of all documents. If the death is related to a traffic accident or criminal proceedings, the time may be longer — due to the need for a forensic autopsy and obtaining the relevant permits.
In Which Cities We Operate
Vespera organizes cremations in all cities of Sweden: Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Uppsala, Västerås, Örebro, Linköping, Helsingborg, Jönköping, Norrköping, Lund, Umeå, Gävle, Borås, Sundsvall, and hundreds of smaller towns.
Can You Say Goodbye Before Cremation
Yes. The family has the opportunity to hold a farewell ceremony before the cremation — in a special morgue hall or ritual room. This service is charged separately and is organized at your request.
If necessary, you can dress the deceased — just pass us the clothing, or we can help with the selection.
Transportation of the Urn with Ashes to Ukraine
For transporting the ashes across the border, we will prepare a complete set of documents: a medical certificate of death, a stamped certificate, a cremation certificate, a permit from the sanitary and epidemiological service, a certificate of absence of foreign inclusions, and a consular document.
All formalities are our concern. You simply wait at home.
